LED strips Nichia 757 Optisolis: LinearZ with light spectrum like natural light

The new Optisolis ™ technology from Nichia is a first in the industry, being the LED light source with spectrum closest to the sunlight. All colors are as vibrant and have the same shade under the light of the Nichia Optisolis LEDs as seen outside in the sunlight. A natural light spectrum contributes to our well-being, helps us to be more productive and has a major importance in all areas where correct color appreciation is important: health, art, research and more.

The new Optisolis technology from Nichia offers a natural light source, with the light spectrum closest to the natural light of all the LEDs on the market.

A contributing factor to our well-being is the low intensity of blue light in the light spectrum of the light source. Standard LEDs emit white light by coating a blue LED chip with a phosphor layer, thus the blue light is quite intense.

There are studies that have found that too much blue light can affect sleep or cause migraines, making the need for the blue light (including telephones, tablets and TVs) to be reduced at the night.

The Optisolis 5000K LEDs use a technology developed by Nichia to produce white light with little blue light in the spectrum, eliminating the negative effects on sleep or health.

New Optisolis technology from Nichia offers a natural light source with less blue than other LEDs.

The Nichia757GOptisolis LEDs have been integrated into the Plug & Play LumiBar3098+ strip to make this new type of lighting affordable and accessible. Without the need for a soldering gun, the module can be powered by plugging wires directly into its connectors and the standard Zhaga format makes it possible to upgrade many of the existing luminaire models on the market.

Beyond the natural spectrum with CRI 99, the Nichia 757G LEDs are top performing Mid-Power LED. The light output, lifetime, and light efficacy are the highest in the market, LumiBar being the best choice for compact, high flux luminaires for applications that require natural light spectrum.

One foot of the LumiBar3098+ LED module provides a white sunlight flux of over 850 lm at only 6 watts and using only 30 Nichia 757G Optisolis LEDs.

For luminaires with a length of less than 52 cm, you can choose the LumiBar-26-3098+ LED with a luminous flux of up to 850 lm / foot.

The Zhaga shape and connection standard means that a luminaire can be maintained or updated with future LumiBar3098+ LED strips or similar modules from other manufacturers.

  • LumiBar3098+ with 52 LEDs meets the Zhaga Book 7 L56W2 standard for 56 cm length modules (20.47 in)
  • LumiBar3098+ with 26 LED meets Zhaga Book 7 L28W2 for modules 25 cm long (11.02 in)

LumiBar3098+ modules use a Plug & Play power supply system that allows wiring without soldering gun and are available in constant current version for maximum energy efficiency.

The life of the Nichia LEDs is 100,000 and the warranty for the LumiBar is 5 years, as such, the investment in these special products is quickly covered due to very low maintenance costs.

Applications for LumiBar3098+ with Nichia Optisolis LEDs:

  • Natural spectrum lighting for clothing stores, decorations, jewelry, museums, art galleries, hospitals, medical clinics, hairdressing salons
  • Production of compact and very bright luminaires
  • Maintenance or updating of luminaires using standard Zhaga LED modules (Book 7 L56W2 and L28W2)

About the Nichia LED quality

Innovation is at the core of the Japanese company Nichia, the manufacturer of the LEDs used on the LumiBar. The natural spectrum and 757G LED performance are the result, as well as the global market share of over 25%, with Nichia being the global leader in the LED market.

In the 1990s, Nichia researchers invented blue and white LED production technology and subsequently received the Nobel Prize for this achievement.

The very long life of Nichia 757G LEDs (minimum 100,000 hours), high operating temperature resistance, top light efficacy and leading light quality are just a few of the attributes that make these LEDs the quality leader.

We are a specialist of high performance LED light solutions. As part of the early success of LEDs we have extensive application knowledge from a wide range of sectors. Since 2010, we have developed and produced NICHIA LED strips in a state-of-the-art production facility in Germany. These strips have been used successfully in a wide range of application and developed specifically to meet customer specifications.

The difference between the quality and performance of a LumiBar with Nichia LED strips and a low-cost LED light strip is evident from the first light and in time the gap increases.

1) The Nichia 757 Optisolis LED has the best spectrum of light

A light source must mimic the natural light. How well it does can easily be seen with the naked eye in the way we perceive the colors.

There are currently several ways to express this fact, but only one is well-known: the CRI index. A light source with the same spectrum as sunlight has a CRI of 100.

Under the CRI 80 level, colors are no longer perceived correctly, a phenomenon that is pronounced from CRI 70 downwards.

For example, an object that has the bright red light in the daylight can be perceived as a burgundy in the light of a CRI 65 LED. Additionally, LEDs with a CRI of less than 70 can be tiring for the eyes, generating headaches or even mild dizziness.

The LumiBar module uses Nichia 757 Optisolis LEDs with CRI98+ to let us perceive colors as under natural light. The cheap LEDs on the market have a CRI of 70 or less that greatly distorts color shades, especially warm colors (red, orange, brown, etc.).

2) Light with natural spectrum and long lasting glow

After 10,000 hours of operation, a Nichia 757 LED is as bright as the first time, with at least 97% of the initial brightness,  at high operating temperatures. This remarkable performance comes from the quality of the materials used and the design of the LED package. In most applications, lifetime, when light reaches 80% of the initial value, is 100,000 hours.

An LED can be produced at a low cost if it uses an outdated architecture with low performance and is build with low quality materials. The result is that it will lose up to 60% of the initial luminous flux in less than 10,000 hours.

The evolution of the Nichia 757 LED light output is supported by tests for 10,000 hours, according to the LM-80, and lifetime (light at 80%) is calculated according to TM-21, both internationally recognized standards.

3) Natural spectrum with uniformity of shade (color temperature)

On LumiBar all Nichia LEDs have the same shade as well as all LED modules in one delivery. On a future order, the shade is the same. This is possible due to the 3 Macadam Elipse sorting standard.

In addition, after many hours of operation, the Nichia 757 LEDs have the same hue as the acquisition.

In contrast, on the cheap strip, LEDs may have more shades or the difference in shade between two batches is significant. The requirement that the same shade is delivered in the future is impossible to accomplish. The reason is the lack of a post-production sorting standard (a price-increasing standard).

Moreover, after just a few thousand hours, each cheap LED on the strip changes its hue due to the degradation of poor quality materials in its construction.

A Nichia LED uses the 3 Step Macadam Elipse sorting standard and keeps the same color temperature in time

4) Natural Spectrum at Minimum Power Consumption: The Nichia 757 LED is highly energy efficient

Depending on the technology used, the LEDs may have a different luminous flux for the same power consumption. The difference in light efficacy (lumens per watt) from one LED to another may be even more than 500% and has a very high influence on the production price. Nichia 757 LEDs have the highest light efficacy on the market, up to 200 lumens per watt compared to an inexpensive LED that has around 50 lumens per watt.

Nichia LEDs are much brighter for the same power consumption
